A Ticking Time Bomb

Apparently all the chaos in Arabia and here at home is masking a serious, serious national crisis--call it a ticking time bomb in the health care system. Overweight pets.

Yes, overweight pets.

But gosh, if our pets are overweight that seems like a sign of prosperity. If the Koch Brothers were really that evil we'd already be eating pet food ourselves.

Now pardon me, but there's a tornado coming...

What would Ghandi Do?

Maybe this was part of the reason the Indian trip cost 200 million...monkey control:

YES! I know the 200 million came from some anonymous Indian source and the right wing fell for it--I do watch Colbert sometimes, but this is just comically ironic. Here we have a story about monkeys possibly terrorizing the president. It must be a tough tightrope for them to walk...

...seeing as how Bush is back out in public giving interviews in support of the book. BTW, this is a perfect example of what happens when a country takes too seriously a religious glorification of an animal, packs of monkeys running wild in the streets.

The Time for Talking About HC is Over

Like Obama, I'm sick of all the talk. Besides, this sounds important:
With President Barack Obama and pro-abortion Democrats moving ahead with their reconciliation plan to push the pro-abortion Senate health care bill, all eyes are on pro-life Democrats like Stupak and others.

He confirmed today that there are enough votes from pro-life Democrats to potentially kill the bill -- something everyone in the abortion debate is closely watching.

"It's accurate to say there are at least 12 of us who voted for healthcare that have indicated to the speaker and others that unless you change this language, we will vote against it," Stupak told MSNBC.
It's simply hard to imagine a bill mandating insurers to cover abortion in this country. And it's hard to imagine Obama pushing his caucus over the cliff to get there. Loyalty only goes so far. Oh well, somehow this picture seems to sum things up nicely..

Outrage Times Two

If all the dots mentioned in this story can be connected then we're seeing the equivalence of the new brown shirts of America:
After the story about the puppy sale ran in the newspapers and on TV newscasts, three dog wardens from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture showed up on Brown's doorstep for a kennel inspection.

And they showed up again and again for four visits over four months.

She said she has also received death threats from animal activists against her and Biden, which were reported to the Secret Service and the FBI.
All for publicly selling a German Shepherd puppy to Vice President Joe Biden, who gave it to his granddaughters for Christmas. Their outrage has nothing to do with this, it's most likely an offshoot of this:
But, by changing its name, the band could raise awareness at every tour stop of the "cramped, filthy conditions" that breeders keep animals in before selling them to pet stores, PETA said in its letter
The CNN story reminds of a former PETA campaign to rename fish to 'sea kittens' so people wouldn't want to eat them anymore. Yes, most of them are in need of shrinks but the problem is they're becoming large enough from donations to evidently ruin people with whom they disagree instead of just disagreeing, a sort of vigilantism not even espoused by noted nutballs like Glenn Beck.

Maybe for the guys it's the nudity, which is compelling (most guys would never become liberals if it weren't for the chicks) but they're nothing but modern day sirens.

Isn't it time for 'Don't mess with Joe' to get down and funky and show some support for this poor breeder?

One for the Duck

Meet 'The Duck':

Bad front paw? No prob, use the chair as a prop. No government program needed.

Yes it's a slow news day but the Duck doesn't care about Obama's latest gift or whether McCain understands economics. The Duck is the Duck. All hail the Duck.
