Just waded through the new Sitemeter. It appears to have been created by a sadist. So much so that I've pulled out the code. Statcounter will have to suffice to measure the blizzard, er flurry of hits received here daily. Feedburner also provides anonymous hit counts.
BTW, I've always shown a hit counter without making the detailed stats public. The reasoning, should you choose to accept it, is because I'm anonymous and those coming here should also have that right (if you think it's because I'm padding stats take a look at the hit counter and do some simple math. It ain't pretty). Like most of you I've had some interesting visitors from time to time, but their secret is safe with me.

Light blogging
Not in a position to do much blogging this week. Signal to noise ratio very low at the moment and probably won't change much for a few days. Anyway, hopefully you won't be outraged for wasting precious seconds clicking on over here just to read this goofy disclaimer... but thanks for dropping by anyway. Will hopefully be back to square soon.

Service Update
Haloscan is soon to be toast. A few days ago I inadvertently flagged a legitimate user as "spam" by mistake (hit the wrong line) and it promptly deleted all their past comments. Contacting the company to resolve the issue has so far proved fruitless and their online help is no help. Besides, it's slowing things down.
Long story short, I'll attempt to transition back over to blogger comments within the next day or sooner, which seems to require picking a new template after first trying to remove their spider-like code first. In the interim comments will probably not be available for awhile and the blog might look funky. Please pardon the mess. Will attempt to transpose the old comments as time permits, but there'll probably be some losses.
MORE 2/22/08
Thanks to the idiotic way Haloscan embeds and changes blogger code, along with some apparent stupidity on my part, most of the sidebar got blown away this morning when attempting to revert to blogger comments. I've less hair than a few hours ago.

Service interruptus
Between problems with Haloscan comments and access at the new 'redlasso' video site (which contains the Omar bin Laden video below) we've been relatively dead in the water this evening. Part of the problem is the way my code is laid out in this format but I just don't have time to debug right now. Sorry for the hassle. Should these issues not clear up within 24 hours we might be forced to make some drastic changes.
