On Praying for the Gulf

Here's Keith Olbermann last night on Sarah Palin's recent call for prayer over the Gulf oil spill:
"Pray baby pray...So there you have it, a Palin presidency in microcosm, 'oh crap, something bad happened, don't worry God will fix it'. A quick miracle and presto chango, the oil stops."
And here's the end of Obama's recent Oval Office address on the oil spill:
Tonight, we pray for that courage. We pray for the people of the Gulf. And we pray that a hand may guide us through the storm towards a brighter day. Thank you, God Bless You, and may God Bless the United States of America.
Does Olbermoron actually hear the words leaving his lips or are some lefties so reflexively programmed to ignore any Obama references to religion as just pandering to the small people that they auto-dismiss them? Wondering.

These People Are Getting Scary

No, not the tea partiers, the cabal trying to smear the tea partiers or anyone else opposed to the policies of this president. For instance, Harry Smith of CBS made news today by shooting hoops (playing basketball for all our white readers) with the president and in the course of the interview, managed to throw down some slams on his hate radio competition on AM, whom he claims to be monitoring. But if Harry has really been listening how did he miss this:

Malloy has in the past wished mental illness for Palin and called O'Reilly a murderer. True, he's only a former Air America nobody and yes, Obama covered himself by mentioning that both sides should turn down the volume. But to use a sports metaphor, everyone knows the score on that one, good buddy.

Obama does this frequently since losing the war to Fox News--slyly hitting both sides with a jab in order to bash the real targets on the right. These White House folks must really think they're the most cunning foxes to ever run the national hen house.

But the media is a different story. Based on a search, Harry Smith never donned a pith helmet and ventured into the roiling moonbat sea to explore hate for the previous president (wait, that was a few days ago); he never went mountain bike riding with Bush and stood by as W dissed the Dixie Chicks or Air America (not as if Bush would have stooped).

But Harry did opine about Bush's long vacations, which included mountain biking, including some folksy wit about his global warming stance. And here's Mr. Smith grilling the late Tony Snow over just about everything including closing Gitmo.

For contrast, here's Smith grilling Robert Gibbs over the promise, but failure, to close Gitmo. And here he is grilling the president over breaking that promise. Almost like drilling him a new navel, word.

Ah shucks though, don't be too hard on the clucks--after all, they helped put the man in office.

The Sea of Hypocrisy

Mr Keith just can't help but figuratively call himself a moron every night. We start with some must see TV..

Here's a shot taken at the Memphis tea party in 2009:

And of course the guy MSNBC showed carrying a gun to a tea party to stereotype 'teabaggers' as gun nuts was himself a black guy; how ironic they didn't show his face--but they really couldn't, lest their all-white line up be forced to accuse themselves of racial stereotyping! Oh, and here's an oldie but goody I just never get tired of...

Fun stuff. And don't miss this. Or this. You Tube--our new national treasure.

O'Keefe's Blunder

This has to be the more incredibly short-sighted and foolish capers ever, or there's more to the story. From reports so far, there's not much more to the story:
Activist James O’Keefe, 25, was already in Landrieu’s New Orleans office Monday when Robert Flanagan and Joseph Basel, both 24, showed up claiming to be telephone repairmen, U.S. Attorney Jim Letten’s office said Tuesday. Letten says O’Keefe recorded the two with his cell phone.
Say goodbye to that onus on ACORN and their corrupt ways. At least for awhile.

From the reports it appears O'Keefe was trying to photographically verify the stealth insertion of the bug team into Landrieu's office, probably to prove they were there when the tapes came out later. But that would only amount to providing evidence of a crime.
It's just hard to see this in any way but stupid right now, even if they suspected her of paying off ACORN or other nefarious things regarding the "Louisiana Purchase".

But! And consider this as using bad behavior to point out other curious and probably bad behavior, but it seems important to point out that while this story is getting top billing on CNN.com, Washington Post, Huffington Post, CBS.com, MSNBC.com, and Fox News.com, and even Breitbart as of this writing, most of these same outlets ignored the weekend story on Ellie Light and the other astroturf letter writers discovered in newspapers all over the country employing fraudulent addresses to support Barack Obama. Both are important political stories--only one got top billing. Just sayin'.

MORE 1/26/10

From Maguire:
So one wonders - did they have some other venture in mind, such as an expose of shoddy security practices at Federal offices? Hmm, if so their project took an unexpected turn.
One has to assume that the federal building in question has a security entry point with video, since that's common for most federal buildings. It would be incredibly stupid to tell the GSA person inside the phone office that they left their phone company IDs in their vehicle if such a checkpoint existed, since it would be a dead give-away that they had entered fraudulently.

But surely any planning would have included such a contingency, ie, "what do we say if someone asks for our phone company IDs?" It's hard to imagine "we left them in the truck" as a planned reply unless they were trying to expose shoddy security. And even if, such things are better left to professionals within the government, who they could have contacted on the side if there was a concern. That is, unless there was a political angle they felt would be blown if they made the feds aware of it in advance.

GETTING IN 1/26/10

Here's the Hale Bogg Federal Building in New Orleans. Landreiu's office is on the 10th floor but look who else is there:
This federal building/complex houses, among other agencies, the IRS and the US Marshall, the Coast Guard, as well as federal courthouses.
With such sensitive facilities there's no way the entrance to this facility doesn't have a security checkpoint, where visitors would be expected to pass a metal detector and present ID, and probably get a visitor badge. If not, then the big question is why not? It's hard to believe two phony phone repairmen could pass security without formal company ID.

MORE 1/27/10

Patterico's flag of the recent rally and "phone problems" in Landreiu's office sounds the most promising as an answer to this thing, which explains why the two phony phone guys were calling the office line with their cell phones. The trip to the phone demarc room is puzzling though, unless there's something available to determine phone system stability. Their answer to the custodian still doesn't make sense if there was security at the front door. It's almost as if they wanted to be caught, or were just stupid, which O'Keefe has proved he's not. Has to be more here.

The Ties that Bind

So Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal wants to buy more of Murdoch's News Corp:
The Saudi billionaire whose investment firm is one of the biggest stakeholders in Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. said he is looking to expand his alliances with the media giant, in the latest indication that his appetite for growth remains robust even as his company retrenches.
Hang on a sec while I get my tinfoil hat. There. Now, Prince Alwaleed is the same Saudi Prince who offered Rudy Giuliani 10 million after 9/11 for rebuilding along with placing some blame on America, to which Rudy figuratively replied "nuts". He is the same Prince who bailed out Citigroup in the 90s and who benefited secondarily from the recent TARP bailout. It's no wonder he's against Obama's new punishment tax.

He's even on Facebook (Murdoch owns what's left of MySpace, btw).

And he's the same Prince Alwaleed mentioned offhandedly by the late civil rights hero Percy Sutton, as in the letter Sutton said he wrote at the behest of Khalid al-Mansour on behalf of getting Obama accepted into Harvard. Al-Mansour acted as an advisor and attorney to.. the Prince.

Meaning the Prince could have known about Obama as far back as 1990 during the Gulf War. Yes, admittedly a thin conspiracy reed since there's no proof Mansour ever mentioned the young up-and-comer community organizer Barack Hussein Obama to his Saudi client. But couple it to the fact that a man of brilliance such as Obama would steadfastly refuse to release any transcripts/records from his Columbia days and it looks kind of weird. Maybe it really is a small world after all. And just how much viewership and ad revenue did Fox (Alwaleed) gain from Obama's failed war on Fox News? Argg, the tinfoil is getting too tight!

Well, if nothing else it's decent fodder for speculation on the most miserable day of the year (no offense to Dr. King--the Brits don't celebrate). As if this wasn't enough.

A Safe and Restful Sleep

Random thoughts...

Obama told NBC News he 'wasn't losing sleep' over running the war on Fox News. OK, but he looks like he could get a few more Z's based on this screenshot from the same interview..

Speaking of losing sleep, a Northwest Airlines A320 overshot the MSP runway by 150 miles this evening. When the crew was questioned they said they were engaged in a heated discussion about company policy and lost track of where they were. Let's hope it wasn't a liberal-conservative thing. Meanwhile the NTSB will be checking into sleep apnea as a probable cause.

Just a few weeks ago the FAA patted itself on the back profusely for its campaign to decrease "runway incursions", otherwise known as near misses on the ground, which actually decreased them by 50 percent (bravo). So what happens next? A Delta 767 lands on a taxiway at Atlanta Airport, the ultimate of incursions and something never before recorded there. Good thing it was early.

Finally, one last war story, the war between Dick Cheney and Robert Gibbs. The White House called out their nemesis last week by claiming they needed a mop to clean up the mess BushCheney left them in the great contingency operation, prompting the Emperor to come out and accuse Obama of dithering, prompting Gibbs:
"I think it is a curious comment," Gibbs also said, "I think it is pretty safe to say that the vice president was for seven years not focused on Afghanistan. Even more curious given the fact that an increase in troops sat on desks in this White House including the vice president's for more than eight months - a resource request filled by President Obama in March."
Uh yes, partly because the incoming administration asked them not to move on it and keep it quiet so they could get the credit. But is he trying to use what he'd call bad behavior on the war (not paying heed to requests for troops) by the Vice President to justify President Obama's dithering for political reasons? Wasn't paying more attention part of the "change"...

cheers..

President of the Message Board

Forget the commie scare, in many ways Obama and his gang are operating more like message board cowboys these days than totalitarians bent on world conquest. For those who've fought the board wars think about the attack on Fox News a sec-- isn't the term "Faux News" popular with lefty commenters on most political boards? Don't they question the network's very existence in the very same manner the White House is doing now?

Another popular message board trend is the ad-hominem attack. Anectodally speaking, it seems more common for the far left posters to use this dredge first even if both sides engage in it far too much. They must think that by first assassinating their opponent's character their argument will be that much easier to assassinate later.

But it quite often fails epically, resulting in a horde of other posters attacking the attacker for the attack. If bad enough the horde will also include some on the same 'side' as the attacker, which is exactly what we're seeing now with in the Fox thing with unlikely supporters such as Helen Thomas and the New York Times cropping up.

Here's another clue--the word 'obtuse'. In a story today carried on CNN an administration official, when discussing troop levels in Afghanistan, was quoted as saying:
"Afghanistan is not Iraq," one senior administration official said. "To say that we can take what we did in Iraq and Xerox it and send it to Afghanistan is obtuse."
This is not a commonly used word amongst the commoners. Nobody I know uses "obtuse" in daily conversation, most would think it has to do with geometry, but I'd guess a lot of Olbermann and Maddow viewers use it quite often since it's popular on the boards.

Now, it's unlikely the White House will get "banned" by the moderators for violating the terms of service, unless the moderators are the voters and banning represents the bouncing of some of the players in 2010 and 2012 . Anyway, it would be fun to know what the Journo-Listers think about all of this.

Keeping Up with Jones

Although he's funny in spurts Glenn Beck is not really my cup of tea. Compared to the self-important dolt who pompously picks the best and worst persons in the world every night he's rather tame even if he drifts off the rails at times. But who cares? Just turn the channel.

Some do care. Who are they? Human Events says "they" might be Van Jones, once a self-described communist and now special advisor to president Barack Obama. One of his old groups, "Color of Change", is behind the boycott on racial grounds and the HE insinuation seems to be that Jones might be pulling a few strings backstage. That would be huge... but hardly surprising coming from a White House that recently asked people to snitch out their neighbors' emails.

Still, it's hard to say whether the sponsors are bailing due to pressure from groups like CoC or because of Beck himself. Shouldn't ratings tell the true story?

Beck's from July 27, 2009:
5PM – P2+ (25-54) (35-64)
Glenn Beck– 2,275,000 viewers (601,000) (1,050,000)
Situation Room—826,000 viewers (155,000) (292,000)
Hardball w/ Chris Matthews—497,000 viewers (104,000) (192,000)
Fast Money—260,000 viewers (77,000) (122,000)
Prime News–166,000 viewers (a scratch w/ 46,000) (91,000)
Beck's from August 13, 2009:
5PM – P2+ (25-54) (35-64)
Glenn Beck– 2,411,000 viewers (662,000) (1,197,000)
Situation Room—770,000 viewers (157,000) (298,000)
Hardball w/ Chris Matthews—425,000 viewers (108,000) (235,000)
Fast Money—230,000 viewers (a scratch w/ 47,000) (98,000)
Prime News–359,000 viewers (185,000) (226,000)
Looks like they've gone up in the past two weeks. So they're bailing based on a little known entity like C0C without some kind of stronger leverage behind it? Who knows. Surely the mainstream press will be all over it soon.
