The Border Comes to Memphis

Notice how the local official with Immigration and Customs Enforcement described a recent raid in Memphis that rounded up 26 illegal aliens:
"The perception is that we're just going out and grabbing everybody we can who may be illegal," said John C. Johnson, assistant special agent in charge for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Memphis. "But that's not what this was. This was specifically targeted toward gang members."
Well, it's unclear where this 'perception' came from since this is a new story--maybe in the illegal community--but it's very clear these guys don't want to be associated in any way with Arizona.

The bigger takeaway is that illegal immigration is obviously promulgating gang activity and crime in America at large, not just in Arizona or the other border states. Yet we have the President of the United States and his Department of State publicly berating elected officials for trying to do something about it.

My travels around the blogosphere reflect that people all over the USA are suffering from illegal immigration, and in all the areas you are experiencing in Memphis. Currently, officials estimate between 250,000 and 400,000 illegal aliens living in Massachusetts.

As for John C. Johnson I’d like to suggest that he remove his family from the greater Memphis area before those people he arrested return again from Mexico and murder him and his family. This sort of thing is happening almost daily on the left coast.

Illegals are causing problems across the us, that's why 18 other states are considering Arizona's law for their own states. I say go for it.

Did you see Rev. Jesse Jackson on Fox today talking about the AZ law and his boycott of the state? What a complete retard he is. He was on his talking points, and would not answer any questions concerning the law itself, other than to say how awful it is.

They aren't taking many prisoners these days, for sure.

Jesse has nothing on his mind but rank partisan politics. That's the problem here- the left wants voters, the right wants cheap labor, the Catholic church wants more money in the plate. The only way to solve it is what Arizona did, and even that won't work if the Feds don't play ball.
