Sony is causing a stir with their new PSP game ad. If you haven't seen it, here's the link.
Is it racist? Seems like it might be, but then again, it's just an advertisement. It was clearly designed to be controversial so as to trigger lively media and internet debate leading to maximum visibility. Think of how many goofy little blogs like this one will post the story and link to the picture.
So it sounds like a no-brainer for Sony. Not only do they get gobs of free publicity, they end up with a sharper, more on the edge image--just what the young male target audience seems to like.
But it has to be asked--if the roles in the picture were reversed would there be anything to talk about here at all?
