Transcending the Pettiness

Obama tried to kill two birds with one stone today. He has been accused of not listening to the GOP's ideas, so he had a meeting with their leadership today. He's also been accused of not meeting the White House press corpse of late, so he met them to discuss meeting the GOP. His theme--"transcending petty politics".

Good deal. Maybe he's starting to listen to Rahmbo. Tacking right could inject some stability into the business climate and allow expansion. Coupled with some targeted tax cuts it might save our investments, the economy, and his presidency to boot.

But if he's really serious about transcending petty politics why send Gibbs out to mock Palin at the outset? If the "purpose is important" shouldn't Gibbs be spending more time with the family soon?

As to the actual presser, the WH press corpse showed they weren't missed over the past six months. Not one question about terrorism, and this after his deputy NSA all but called GOP'ers treasonous for complaining about Abdulmichelob. Or did Brennan chill the air? Here's his comment, from earlier in the day:
Politically motivated criticism and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda. Terrorists are not 100-feet tall. Nor do they deserve the abject fear they seek to instill. They will, however, be dismantled and destroyed, by our military, our intelligence services and our law enforcement community. And the notion that America's counterterrorism professionals and America's system of justice are unable to handle these murderous miscreants is absurd.
Nice strawman; nobody is saying we shouldn't use all our tools, just that the administration was all over the map and lied, and it still took about a month to get anything, and they might have made a plea deal, etc.

That's why it would have been nice had somebody asked Obama to explain the reason he's trying the Cole bombers in a military commission if Article III courts are so wonderful. Or how KSM can get a fair trial after the POTUS and his subordinates have already proclaimed him guilty in the press and sentenced him to meet judgment with Allah soon.

Obama even played with the reporters at the end, asking for one more question, which was again about health care, so he broke down and took one more, which was on jobs. All pretty much softballs with typical filibluster answers. It was so tame he ended with:
All right? Thank you, guys. That was pretty good, thanks.
A solid B+, maybe? Did 'pretty good' also include Gibbs' opening act hand puppet?

Palin's hand job just shows all of us what kind of dullard we are up against, I have not seen this since junior high. WOW and some call her a leader....please.

Milton,

Have you ever had to give a speech in some setting other than a High school speech class? Did you take a college speech class?

If the answer is yes, to either of these, then you should well know that notes are usually in order when you give one. So...what is the difference between having the notes written on your hand, as opposed to index cards or paper?

In fact, what's the difference between a note on the hand and a President who is incapable of giving a speech with out two teleprompters rolling to words off? The man clearly is not an extemporaneous speaker and he is the President.

Advice: Don't throw stones near your glass house.

Let's say Milton is correct here. Why does Gibbs need to mock it? How is that rising above petty politics? That kind of thing is better left to bloggers!

But if you'd like to talk 'dullard', the Commander-in-Chief just proved he's not familiar with the word
"corpsman", fer cryin out loud.

The Republicans are calling for Brennan's early retirement, ha. Some high ranking Democrats are calling for Obama's top 4 advisers to be fired. Oops, things are not looking good for Obama no matter how the press tries to prop him up.

I guess you failed to watch President Obama answer questions at the GOP retreat in Baltimore, no telaprompters or crib notes on the hand. But I guess those facts would only blow you mis-guided perception of reality. Palin is now a victim, poor little Beauty Queen from smallville, who could not finish her highest office that she ever held, quit making excuses for her she will only take you down the drain with her. She is so perfect for "Fake News", so much for being a private citizen. Keep plucketing that chicken.

Actually Milton I did catch Obama's GOP event. He took them to town for the most part, well, except for his bonehead speech in reply to Rep Ryan, who corrected him promptly. It's right here on the blog if you'd care to read it.

As to Palin, why are you lefties so smitten with someone who's not a political force? Gibbs had no business even mentioning her, much less that childish stunt he pulled. I really don't get it.

BTW, what does 'plucketing' mean? You seem to like using it..
