Che what?

The illegal alien street protests Sunday (with more scheduled for today) point out the absolute necessity for an 'Army of Davids'. Allow me to quote the first three paragraphs of an AP article that appeared in this morning's Nashville Tennessean:
DALLAS (AP) -- Hundreds of thousands of people banged drums, waved U.S. flags and marched in a protest Sunday urging federal lawmakers to pass immigration reform that would legalize an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants.

Shouting "Si Se Puede!" - Spanish for "Yes, we can!" - the marchers crammed into the downtown streets. They included families pushing strollers with their children and ice cream vendors who placed American flags on their carts. Many wore white clothing to symbolize peace.

Police estimated the crowd at 350,000 to 500,000. There were no reports of violence
.
Sounds almost patriotic, right? Families with babies in strollers, people waving Old Glory, and folks wearing white for peace. How wonderful.

Now, let's stroll over to Michelle Malkin for a side of the story AP wasn't able to provide.

Isolated, you say? Doesn't matter, it happened, and the AP either didn't know or didn't feel the need to tell us. Bloggers added value, and citizens were more informed.

As to the protests, I believe they represent a shot across the bow of the United States Congress. They are a show of force, a reminder of just how many people can be put into the streets should tough new legislation get enacted. They are also a reminder of just how much our elected representatives have failed us during the past 30 years.

Michelle highlighted what one counter protester, a recent legal immigrant from Ghana said,
“Illegal immigration is a crime in every country. I believe they are a drain on the economy and don’t pay taxes, and employers take advantage of them and enslave their labor. And as a result it drives down wages for legal migrants and U.S. citizens,” Mr. Blewusi said.
Although this man is precisely correct, it may be too late. The barn door has been open too long. Perhaps the best we can do at this juncture is to quietly shelve the immigration reform and instead concentrate on measures designed to get control of the borders immediately.

If that requires National Guard presence, even as a symbolic gesture of our seriousness, then so be it. I have nothing but praise for the work ethic of most illegal aliens, but that's not the issue here. Their numbers have now reached a point where they have no fear marching to demand rights they don't deserve under a Constitution they refuse to respect. And that's a GIANT TELLTALE of events to come.
