As we bicker about a 9/11 TV show the situation in Afghanistan is becoming tenuous. NATO's Operation Medusa is being executed in the Kandahar area and our Canadian brothers appear to be taking the brunt of the casualties.
The field commander is calling for more troops. Perhaps France's admission that they don't believe there is a "war" on terror is a diversionary way of saying they won't be contributing anymore troops. Maybe they'll send a contingent of lawyers instead.
We've heard all levels of weirdness from Pakistan of late. First there was a story about a deal with the Taliban, including a nugget about bin Laden being offered amnesty if he agrees to live a peaceful life. Musharraf tried to refute that story while simultaneously admitting that Talibani fighters were conducting cross-border operations. Sounds more like a deal with the devil.
Everyone knows where the Taliban fighters are coming from, the question is, who is funding them?
