For those of us who became teenagers in the 70s, or for those who just love good rock music, the loss of Boston lead singer and guitarist Brad Delp is a sad passing.
We tend to remember people certain ways. The picture contained in the linked story looks only vaguely recognizable compared to photos in the first few albums (the ones with the spaceships). Not true for his family and friends and my heart goes out to them in their loss, but to me this will forever be Brad Delp..
That might be one of the better lip-sincs. For those who never saw them on stage (such as myself) the magic of YouTube makes it possible, including a view of the eccentric genius of Tom Scholz. Their studio sound must have been hard to consistently reproduce night after night on long tours, but this 2004 clip showed Delp hadn't lost much.
Time flies. Rest in peace, sir.
UPDATE 3/15/07
An even sadder ending. "A Man I'll Never Be" comes to mind.
