The capital of terrorism?

During Vice President Cheney's recent trip to Pakistan the Paki police rounded up a top-ranking Taliban official, Mullah Obeidullah. Apparently he was a tad more than the usual suspect:
He is one of the inner core of the Taliban leadership around the Mullah Muhammad Omar who are believed to operate from the relative safety of Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan Province, where Mullah Obeidullah was arrested.
There's that pesky name again--Balochistan. For such a desolate and forgotten territory it sure has spawned some memorable events.

The perpetrator of the first WTC attack in 1993 hailed from Quetta as did his uncle, the planner of the second and more famous attack. Both were allegedly involved with Lashkar-e-Jhangvi , banned by Musharraf in 2001. That was the same year President Bush proclaimed that countries were either "with us or with the terrorists". One has to wonder just how long Pervez's rope can get, especially after the Bagram attack.

By the way, I know it's not his style, but wonder if Cheney mentioned anything in passing about "the stone age" while in Islamabad?

UPDATE 3/3/07

Is Cheney's discussion with Musharraf getting real results, or is this just more of the same? Guess we'll find out come springtime.
