Unconventional wisdom

Not so long ago conventional wisdom said....
  • that Saddam Hussein was a bad guy, had WMDs, fostered relationships with terrorists and was a threat to the Middle East and probably America.
  • that people who deliberately blast shotgun pellets into their sleeping spouse have committed murder.
No longer.

We now know that Saddam was never a threat. While he did harbor terrorists they weren't of the al Qaeda flavor, and only al Qaeda terrorists are a threat to America because they attacked us on 9/11. Meetings and discussions do not constitute operational relationships, ya hear!

While it's indisputable he had WMDs and used them--and was even hanged for using them--the idea that he would reconstitute programs or pass materials to like-minded freedom fighters is clearly preposterous, and anyone who disagrees is a liar. Well, except for this strange little man.

As for those who sneak into the U.S. illegally; obtain phony IDs to get jobs under assumed names or with stolen Social Security numbers; then produce children while breaking US law--they are not "illegals" or "aliens" anymore, they are undocumented or just plain ole immigrants, just like Albert Einstein, Yakov Smirnoff and Charo! Calling them anything less is insensitive and the mark of a racist bully, even if coming from a legal Mexican immigrant who completed the process. By the way, Catholic Churches make great shelters, even if the illeg, er, undocumente, uh sorry, immigrant, is an MS-13 gang member.

Finally, the act of shooting a man in the back while lying in bed is now OK so long as the perpetrator can convince a jury the deceased was rude, crude, liked porn, and yelled and screamed over petty trivialities such as nearly bankrupting the family by overspending then falling for a Nigerian money scam--in other words, a real terrorist.

Such abusive situations are now the only justification for the use of guns. Divorce is not nearly as effective and not always as lucrative, especially if the target is poor.

As Yakov says, what a country.

You know, I had a goal to do a light-hearted post today. Somehow the above gurgled out, or as Mary Winkler said, "my ugly came out". Anyway, speaking of Mrs. Winkler perhaps I'm being too hard on the poor woman. God knows men can be neanderthal at times and he may well have been a private monster. Heck, maybe if more Islamic women acted as she...never mind.

But the problem is the willingness to so easily accept the cliche "the b*stard probably deserved it" without ever hearing from the actual b*stard himself. Does anyone really deserve to die for what apparently went on in that household? Does any child deserve to lose their father in such a manner?
