Wetback Pilgrims?

Interesting analogy:
"Yes, people from Europe are wet backs man... their backs so wet because they had to cross an ocean to get here," De Leon said at the rally.
See for yourself. Aside from the double standard, and aside from the derogatory nature of the term, the urban dictionary definition of "wetback" confirms that indeed people got wet fording that certain river in reaching Los Estados Unidos. Therefore, it would seem that using it to describe early American settlers--who sailed over on boats--would suggest they actually swam the Atlantic to get here, since getting soaked is not necessarily a given from being onboard ship unless it sinks or meets up with a powerful storm and one is not below decks.

She went on to bullhorn that "we" saved "your f-king ass". Not exactly sure who "we" is, since the link bombed, other than perhaps something to do with Spain. But surely she wouldn't suggest that a hegemonic European power saved out butts after just calling all the Euro-settlers wetbacks? Maybe she meant Mexico, but wait, they were conquered by Spain. Is she a spokesperson for Spain? Confused, I am.
