The First Screw Up

So Obama admitted he 'screwed up' by continuing to firmly back Daschle until the last minute while propagating a double standard to the bitter clingers:

Ultimately, I campaigned on changing Washington and bottom-up politics," Obama said.

"And I don't want to send a message to the American people that there are two sets of standards -- one for powerful people and one for ordinary folks who are working every day and paying their taxes."

And Tim Geithner? And the estimated 17 appointees who've been granted waivers from the tough new lobbying order? Natch.

Well, perhaps the real story will come today when Obama announces his new way forward by dictating pay of company execs taking federal bailouts, no doubt destined to be an instant hit with the peeps--until the federal government starts telling everyone how much they can't make.
This looks like a coming meltdown but we must have hope.
